What this covers: standard WEEE vape takeback (category 7.1) collections with hazardous waste consignment notes. Figures are indicative comparisons based on the assumptions below and are not a quote or a compliance guarantee.
Assumptions used
- Flat all-in rate: £110 per collection, an illustrative figure set above today’s trade-route market rate of around £85 per standard collection, so the estimate errs against us. Your confirmed flat price is quoted for your store or estate on the setup call, and it covers the carrier, the consignment note and the record-keeping. Nothing is charged per kilo.
- Treatment: £0 at handover. From 12 August 2026 vape producers must finance the real costs of collection and treatment through their compliance schemes (SI 2025/910).
- Monthly fees: £0. The standard setup has no subscription; you only pay when a bin is collected. Optional Compliance Cover (from £29 per site per month, for retailers who want the ongoing admin run for them) is not included in the comparison because it is optional.
- The comparison uses the same number of collections per year that you enter for your current contract.
- The one-off setup fee is scoped on the setup call and excluded from the annual comparison because it is a single payment, not a running cost.

Vape collection cost FAQs
Common questions about what vape collection and takeback compliance should cost.
Why might I be overpaying for vape collection?
From 12 August 2026, vape producers must finance the real costs of collecting and treating waste vapes through their compliance schemes (SI 2025/910). Treatment is already free at the point of handover, and collection prices are compressing fast: standard vape collections are now available through trade routes at around £85 per visit, while legacy contracts signed before the change often charge £160 to £220 per visit plus container fees. If your contract predates 2026, there is a good chance it no longer reflects the market.
How much does vape takeback compliance cost with Cell Comply?
Two numbers, both quoted for your store or estate on the setup call: a one-off setup fee covering the bins, the required signage, a logbook and staff training, then a flat all-in price per collection, charged only when a bin is full, with the carrier, hazardous waste consignment note and record-keeping all included. There are no monthly fees on the standard setup and nothing is ever priced per kilo. Retailers who want the ongoing admin run for them can add optional Compliance Cover from £29 per site per month (£299 per year), with banded chain rates capped at £299 a month on Essentials. Vapes are handled as WEEE category 7.1 with hazardous waste consignment notes on every movement.
What figures does this checker use?
Your current spend comes from the numbers you enter. The comparison assumes an illustrative flat all-in rate of £110 per collection, set above today's trade-route market rate of around £85 so the estimate errs against us, the same number of collections per year that you enter, no treatment fee (producer-funded from 12 August 2026), and no monthly fees. The one-off setup fee is excluded because it is a single payment quoted per store, not a running cost. Real collection prices vary by location and volume, so treat the result as an indication and ask us for the confirmed flat price for your sites.
Does this checker guarantee compliance or a price?
No. It gives an indicative comparison based on the assumptions shown, not a quote or a compliance guarantee. Vape takeback compliance also involves customer information, a staff process, safe storage and record-keeping. Book a call and we will confirm what your collections should cost at today’s rates.
